Which is faster 335i or m3

An F30 N55 to an E90 M3. If you were to compare an E90 N55 to the E90 M3 I think you would still get some flak for this from some people as there are a lot of us with E90 N54's and that's the comparison we are looking for. When I was in the market for my i it was a bitch and a half trying to find one that fit all of my requirements N54, 6MT, sports seats and fold down rears lol so I started looking into N55s and then eventually the F30 but from what I read it just felt dead and lacking in the overall driving experience category compared to the E Do you think that has any influence on you here?

Taking the M3 vs i out of the equation for a bit, would you still prefer the E90 chassis over the F30? Appreciate 1. Just wanted to throw something else into the thoughts above.

If the 6cyl engine was not as dependable as the v8, why did bmw choose to use it in the 1M instead of the V8? The N54 had to be de-tuned in the non M cars because why would anyone buy an m car if they could get more power from the standard car?

Personally, I think the only advantage the v8 has over the n54 or n55 is the amazing sound. Finally, The v8 only has about 60flb of torque over the 6cyl n52 i think about that. Nonetheless, still a great write up! I've always wanted to drive an E9X M3. They pretty much hit the bottom of their depreciation curve, at least for the good quality ones. They should start appreciating next yr like the e Lieutenant General. One doesn't change oil based on color. Sgop What if your i was an N54 rather than a N55? Other than interior and exterior look they deliver the same power and feel.

So even though i had n55 the n54 would still apply. This Thread was mainly about driving experience not looks. Drove a friends M3 a few weeks ago. Mines an N55 catless downpipes. Second Lieutenant. I love my N TemjinX2 If you like steering feel, the non-M e9 series definitely has better steering feel than the e9 M3. I read somewhere that the option to select different driving modes in the M results in using some sort of an electric steering assist unlike the non-M e9 which just has normal, hydrolic steering. Every single time I've driven the e9 M3, the steering feel was more vague and lighter than in a non-M car. The engine is amazing though, and the car pulls like a freight train all the way to the redline.

For BMW enthusiasts, this is typically the M3. For most BMW enthusiasts, the M3 is just slightly out of reach, so they begin to think about just settling for the i.

But, can you modify the i, and make it better than an M3? We all know how incredibly sexy the E92 M3 looks. Its front fascia is meaner, the hood has a giant bulge, to fit that beast of a V8 in it. The body as a whole is redesigned to look meaner, lower, and faster. But, are the body modifications really worth the premium? Well, not really.

Things like crazy carbon fiber hoods, carbon fiber trunks, and massive rear wings are completely acceptable once again. For that reason specifically, you could very easily modify the i to look way better than an M3. It will still be considered somewhat unacceptable to put M3 badges on it, but who really cares about the badges anyways?

Regardless of looks, the M3 does have quite a few lightweight panels on the outside, which can be difficult to replicate with aftermarket body parts sometimes.

Any interior modifications besides a racing seat are strictly for your comfort, and not increasing performance. The i and the M3 have a nearly identical interior. The M3 comes equipped with a slightly softer leather, and some of the buttons illuminate. The M3 also had an option to add carbon fiber bits and pieces.

Other than that, the M3 is literally no different than a i on the inside. The only interior modifications most enthusiasts will make is adding a nice racing seat. We care about the numbers. Which one is faster at what? Are they good on the track?

These numbers are not indicative of a good track car. You still have inferior suspension, brakes, body, engine internals, and drive line. You have to put a limited slip in the i. The list goes on and on. Virtually every other peformance car will fail in the same metric.

Why buy a S, when you can undoubtedly tune the new S to the same power level for much less? Hell, why even buy a i when you can tune a i to the same power levels and have a better balanced car? Where do you draw the line? Whether or not consumers at large realize this is another matter. Agree with everything. Have an M Performance i which can do in 4. Can tune it to easily and possibly get 4. A lot of times people do not understand the engineering.

A i is a pretty terrific daily driver proposition. Daily Driver. Winter Sluch Mud Summer. Any M or Porsche are a terrific sports day driver. Open roads, curves, throttle, shifter, stick or PDK. Been runing 15, miles with no issues. Your email address will not be published. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed.
